Retiree Leaves a Huge
Legacy!
Dr. Lloyd Diedrichsen, a retired dentist, is
amazing! One of his many legacies is that he meets with educators in
elementary and middle schools. He asks them what they need (i.e.,
computers, playground equipment, etc.). Then, he goes after grants and
resources they need ... and doesn't stop until he is successful.

Two Benefits of
Registering Now!
-
With our
one-of-a-kind intern system, you can earn
more than the cost you pay for tuition!
-
Learn how to get grants
without ever writing a word! I’ll show
you how.
|
A 3rd benefit of
registering now is that you get lots of short cuts,
templates & checklists.
Your agency's life blood comes from grants
and fundraising. To survive AND thrive, you need to
diversify funding streams.
THERE ARE
LITERALLY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF FUNDING SOURCES THAT YOU HAVE NOT
CONSIDERED!!!
You need only get to know a
few of them. The short cut is finding those funders who resonate
with your agency's mission. There are 70,000+ foundations and 2,000,000+ corporations in the U.S. that
donate money and products.
It can feel like a maze getting through the opportunities.
I will help lead you through!
Funders complain that as many as 80% of applications they
receive do NOT
even match their funding priorities!!
You don't just want
"funders" who "have money." You want funders whose
"priorities for funding" match yours! For example, the
AT&T Foundation does have money that you could apply for.
If you did, you would likely fail. Why? In 2008,
AT&T prefers grants that have a "strong focus on high school
success and the support of college and workforce readiness
systems." So, if your proposal doesn't match this
priority, you fail. It's that simple.
Four
Funder Types
Understanding who the four
funder types are and how they operate will triple your pool of
potential funders. Finding them and discerning whether or
not they are possible matches for you can be time-consuming.
I will show you how to streamline this process to save time and
money, while allowing you to diversify your funding streams and
increase your agency's sustainability.
TIP:
Only Do Fundraising Campaigns that Generate Big Returns!
All campaigns are
successful if they bring in money. But some like the
traditional bake sales and car washes may not be worth
your time or effort. You want campaigns that bring in more money
with maximum ease! For
example, recently, I helped two "start up" non-profits.
One generated $40,000 in 1-2 months. The second generated
$45,000 in one event. That's maximum ease!
Individual
donors are ideal to approach for a variety of
reasons, but especially when you need discretionary and "start
up" funds. Fundraising campaigns with big returns are
important because you don't have time to do events that
have a mediocre return-on-investment.
|

REMINDER: Each year, over $300
billion is available in grants.
FACT: This amount
goes up ...
even in a recession.
|
As you know, the majority of this money
goes to organizations with an IRS designation of 501.c.3.
There are still plenty of grants for small
businesses, even people like you and me. I'm sure you've
seen the infomercials on TV and ads for grant books and free
seminars.
 Personally, I
have received scholarships for education, grants for housing, even to
grants to write my
first
book. My bachelors and masters degrees were paid for from
state and private scholarships. I
received a $12,000 grant for first-time home owners and
didn't have to put any money down (see photo of my condo
there on the left).
I received a grant for $5,000 to write my first book (Dream-Making to Billions) and another grant of $3,000
to
get it edited. Even my mother got a grant to "fix up
that drafty room on the south side of the house and finally
insulate it properly." The state picked up the tab.
What would you do with your scholarship and grant funding?
-----------------
A 4th benefit to registering now is
you will carve
your niche in the $300
billion dollar industry serving
charitable organizations and other individuals. Finding
your niche is doubly vital in a volatile economic climate!
Take a look at "My First Grant" and see how my niche appeared.
My First Grant
On my 40th
birthday, Tracy told me, “One thing I appreciate about you is that you
always have the ‘Joe Montana winning attitude'.”
I’ve always had
confidence and the ability to see opportunity. These skills showed
up in my first grant.
I was hired to get
federal funding for an educational system in my area, even though I had
no grant writing experience.
Our initial funding
served 250 students. I knew there were
many more who wanted our services, though. I calculated that if I created
a waiting list of people ready to sign up for classes, the funder would
give us more money ... and they did! The
funder gave us $300,000 more in the first year alone and $2.5 million
over 5 years!
In reality, 500
people showed up for the first week of registration! I coolly responded
to the demand by telling everyone just to
show up at the school building across the street the next week for
class. What happened next was nothing short of a miracle.
The school across the street was vacant and needed tenants. So, we
rented the space and hired the teachers. We served over 3,000
students and received many national awards and recognition for our
successes!
This was just my
first grant, too! Overall, I've gotten 48 of 52 grant proposals funded (a
92+% success rate). I have raised over $6.4 million for one
college. Then, I taught my winning ways to 385 people. Guess how
they did? They generated over $1.2 billion!!!!!
I've learned how to
leverage my unique talents (in this case my confidence and
follow-through). As a student in this system, you will learn to
find your personal niche, harness your own genius and add proven methods to be a winning
fundraiser.
I look forward to listening
to your dreams and unique abilities, as well as how I can help you be
even more successful than you already are.
Sincerely,

Phil Johncock
P.S. Like 'Joe Mantana', I was inducted into
the Hall of Fame in football. I was a running back, and
it was in high school: Delton Kellogg High School in Delton, Michigan.

proactive control of your own career and financial future.
INCREASE
YOUR IMPACT!
Leave a legacy.
Document what you learn in creative ways that benefit others.
One student researched grant writing resources on the web
and jumped from making $15 to $100 an hour (a 600%+

Everyone around you benefits from your biggest discoveries.
Employ
the concept of “maximum impact with maximum ease” in your

tab," which is the part of a rudder of a boat or plane.
Move that little trim tab, and you move the whole boat.
With a little effort, you have big impact. In the
12-month system, we will look at case studies, including
the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, that is raising people out
of poverty in the poorest villages with microcredit loans to
small groups of five people.

|
How is the 12-Month Mentoring Program
different
from other grant writing, scholarship and fundraising seminars?
-
GET PAID TO LEARN -
If you're not already being paid to learn, we’ll show you how. I’ll show you where and how to create a list of at least six
nonprofit agencies that you might want to work for. I’ll show you how to
select the best agency to work for. I’ll show you how to sell
yourself to a nonprofit agency (a skill all grant writing and fundraising consultants must
have). I’ll even help you “close the deal” with a nonprofit agency.
-
LEARN-AS-YOU-GO
- Rather than being a weekend seminar that is primarily
"lecture-based" … where you may or may
not apply what you hear in a lecture … this is a hands-on system where you
learn by doing. You write actual proposals (or get someone to write for
you) and critique successful proposals. You get feedback all along the way
through a variety of methods, such as “peer evaluations” and conducting “mock
reviews.” You are mentored by an experience grant writer while you learn
"on-the-job."
-
YOU GET A MASTER TEACHER,
NOT JUST A GRANT WRITER – Most grant writing courses
are taught by grant writers, not trained educators. Even with my tremendous grant writing success
myself, my greatest thrill is teaching and mentoring students. My
genius shines when I'm mentoring people like you, in a system like this.
I've been in education for over 30 years! I am most interested in YOUR
learning, YOUR success! I am
proudest that we now have a proven
system through which students generated much more than I ... over $1.2 billion
... in the first 2.5 years.
-
LEARN FROM A DISTANCE -
The system is designed to
provide you maximum flexibility while
strengthening communication. Not everyone is familiar or comfortable with
MULTI-MEDIA LEARNING like TeleSeminars, E-Courses, online
courses, downloadable audios, etc ... what is sometimes called "distance
education." Sharon started out barely using the Internet or e-mail.
She got interested, though, and "jumped right in." Within 12 months,
she not only learned about browsers and online resources for grant writers,
but she wrote an E-Book from her experience. She even went from making
$15/hour to a whopping $100/hour. I know because I hired her!
One way that 4Grants.Net is
unique and stands apart from other professional development systems is that
it is a PIONEER in online learning.
We were
amongst the first to be successful with Web classes … even before online
classes were popular. We've been at this since 1997. We'll help
you become comfortable with this form of learning, if you are not
already. If we can't help you directly, we'll brainstorm options with you.
-
GET A TESTED CURRICULUM
- Our curriculum has been approved and adopted
by two colleges. We designed and successfully launched the first
national college certification system in grant writing in 2001. Part
of the curriculum is based on extensive research on what successful grant
writing experts do that works. The curriculum has
been classroom-tested with over 400 college students and thousands more
through books and seminars. Grant writing and
fundraising is 50% science, 50%
art. The 12-month Mentoring System teaches you both.
-
THIS IS OUTCOMES-BASED
LEARNING ... THAT SCREAMS "SUCCESS"
-
One way that 4Grants.Net is
unique and stands apart from other professional development
systems is that teaching and learning uses an "outcomes-based" model
that eventually most funders will require for their
applications. For example, most
funders require accountability and measurable outcomes of the
systems they fund. Each student keeps a "success log," whereby measuring his or
her own "success rate" and "overall amount of money earned." Second, students learn to write
clear, measurable goals and outcomes for their own learning and
funding performance. For example, one outcome might be to
"Increase my success rate by 20% within 12 months" or "Decrease
time I waste by 10% by September 30." In addition, students learn to
short cuts to keep them
organized and on target to reach their goals. They self-evaluate performance periodically and adjust activities accordingly ... just like a grant-funded project
would likely require. In this way, students
mirror in their own learning what will be required in most grant applications and
fundraising campaigns.
-
GET REAL-TIME LEARNING ... THAT
IS "TIMELY" – Recently,
I spoke with a Senior
Analyst who consults with nonprofits with large endowment campaigns. I asked
her what the main research questions are today that could be answered in
doctoral research and if answered would have a huge impact in fundraising
today. Her first response was how everyone in fundraising is struggling
with raising money over the Internet. She said, “noone has figured this one
out.” Well, recently we have one success story … Barrack Obama’s huge fundraising successes
online. In the 12-month system, we’ll discuss how he got to be
so successful. We may just get a chance to speak with someone from his staff.
These discussions represent "real-time learning" that is "timely" and "immediately relevant"!
"... much more user-friendly and practical than other grant writing
classes I've taken. It
made the process much easier."

Here Are the More Frequently
Asked
Questions (FAQ's) and Their
Answers
Q. What if I don't have any grant writing or
fundraising experience whatsoever?
A. We've designed this Mentoring
System
for even the most novice grant writer or fundraiser. You do
not need any previous grant writing or fundraising experience at
all! However, if you do have some experience, this Mentoring
System will take you to the next level.
Q. What are the prerequisites to be considered
for this system?
A. Good communication skills (speaking
and writing), computer knowledge (Word and Excel preferred) and
Internet (email and browsers), internet access, organized and
professional.
Q. Who will be teaching the course?
Will I be learning from your assistants?
A. I will be personally delivering the
E-Courses, teleconferences and mentoring. I plan to invite and
interview specialists who are
experts in
certain areas of grant writing and fundraising ... such as capital campaigns, online fundraising, etc.
... to
share their secrets in monthly "expert" calls. I
plan to hire "resource" mentors with special areas of expertise who
will also be available during internships.
Q. I have special needs and
circumstances. How will these be addressed?
A. Not a problem. The entire
system is
interactive, flexible and adaptive. That's also why I work
with a small group. You can ask questions on the weekly TeleConferences or on the Yahoo discussion group. In these
ways, other students can benefit from answers to your questions and in some cases
add tips of their own. You can also call and email me
directly.
Q. What if I miss a class or session?
A. Don't worry. We have
you covered. We record each session and make the recordings
available to you to download and listen to when you're ready.
Q. Who is paying for the cost of the
TeleSeminar calls?
A. You will be provided with a
long-distance number to
call for each TeleSeminar. Whatever your long distance carrier
charges you for a call is the cost you will incur. There are
no hidden costs.
Q. Do grant writers and fundraisers
get paid commissions?
A. Some do. However, I
don't. Plus, I request that students not get paid commissions
either ... at least during the
12-months they are in the Mentoring system. I hope they don't
after the system, also. But, that's beyond my control I encourage them
to join and adopt the code of ethics used by professional
associations, such as the
American
Grant Writers' Association and
Association of Fundraising Professionals. These
professional associations (and others) require members not to accept
compensation or enter into contracts based on a percentage of
contributions or of the grant.
Q. What is the internship system?
A.
It takes place in
the 3rd and 4th quarters, but we prepare you in the 1st and 2nd quarters.
Internships are designed to give you hands-on, one-the-job training. You
are required to complete three
(3) 75-hour PAID internships with nonprofit agencies. You can
also integrate the internship process into a current job you have,
if you like. One internship is completed in the third quarter and two in the fourth quarter (see
schedule below). You can
complete more than one in the third quarter, but one is the minimum. You don't
have to do the internship with another agency if you're salaried by a nonprofit
agency that will allow you to put in 225 paid hours to work on grants and
fundraising projects.
These 225 hours are very structured, though.
You have clearly defined learning objectives and performance
outcomes. You're supervised by me or another expert in your
field of interest. Each internship is 75-hours in
length. There is not other system that I know of like this. You
actually earn more than the cost of tuition! Interns may
receive additional pay per hour, based on at least 7 success grants.
Q. I'm not a great writer.
And, I don't really like writing grants. Is there
a way that I can still enroll and learn how to get grants ... even if I
don't write them myself?
A. Absolutely! In the
12-month system, we explore "writing" for those people interested
in doing the writing themselves. The training is also helpful
for administrators who never plan to write anything themselves but
want to understand the process and learn how to work with people who
can do the writing for them. Also, we'll explore inexpensive
options such as hiring interns from within the system; this allows
an agency to also get an experienced grant writer to mentor the
intern.
Moreover, since the system is
customized to your skills and interests, if you're not interested in
writing but interested rather in some other area (like fundraising
events, online fundraising, or capital campaigns), this becomes the
focus of your Individualized Learning Plan. But, before you
sign up, I would suggest that you
schedule a consultation
with me to make sure this is a "good fit" for you.
There are other options, too. I'm a firm believer in
you doing what you most love and what I call your "unique talents"
or genius. Then, get good at "delegating" or "outsourcing" the
things you don't want to do ... to someone who loves and is a genius
at that thing. In this way, you free up your time to do what you
love, using your unique talents.
Q. What skills can I expect to leave
this program having?
A. Well, the first part of my
answer starts with you and some questions. What are your
career goals? What are your organizational goals? Ask
yourself, "What would I like to most get out of this 12-month
system?"
How much do you want to learn? What areas are you most
interested in? A lot depends on your inner motivation and
depth of your passion and goals. I expect you to "step up to
the plate" (to use a baseball metaphor) and dream BIG. From
the very start, I plan to ask you to join me in setting measurable
goals and learning objectives for yourself to realize your dreams.
We look at specific ways to measure our success. In other
words, how will I know when I've successfully reached and even
surpassed my goal?
The second part of my answer starts
with my experience around the technical skills you will learn.
You can expect to become proficient in
managing the grant writing process for yourself and including
others. You will know where to find funders and how they can
find you. Expect to learn how to use templates to make writing
easier while saving time. You will learn the most widely-used
grant writing format in the world to planning and longer grants.
As well, you will learn a 1-2 page template that we've found most
successful for short proposals to foundations and corporations. You can expect to write at least six "real"
proposals and one "mock" one. You can expect to
receive valuable feedback and wisdom about grants and fundraising from the experts,
funders and other students. You will learn how to ask for
feedback in ways that give you what you need and help you attain
greater success. Expect to be invited to develop your own unique talents and share
them. Don't just sit on the sidelines. I expect you to
"get in the game." For more specific grant-writing and
fundraising skills, see the topics covered in each quarter (below).
Q. You said the system is
guaranteed.
How does that work?
A.
The 12-Month
Mentoring System is guaranteed. It is simple and has no gimmicks.
Here’s the Mentoring System 100% guarantee. Take the Mentoring
system. If at any time during the first 3 months of the 12-month
system, you feel that you haven’t gotten all of the value that I’ve
described and more, just send me a letter asking for your money
back, and I’ll refund 100% of your investment. No questions asked.
There is no risk.
Q. What's the schedule for the
12-month program?
A. The 12-month Mentoring
Program uses a quarter system (see below).
Foundation courses are introduced in the first quarter. In the
second quarter, the focus is on preparing for internships and
applying skills learned in the first quarter. The first
internship is the primary focus of the third quarter, along with refining
skills and maximizing time on task. Two more internships make
up the fourth quarter. Overall, most students will expect to complete a minimum
of 6 "actual" proposals by the end of the fourth quarter.
Q. How much time should I anticipate
spending per week on this system?
A. Each quarter is slightly
different. In the first quarter, you can expect to spend up to
5 hours a week on assignments and teleconferences. A typical
week might consist of a 1-hour teleconference with me, along with 2
hours of theory and background reading/audios plus 2 hours of
application activities.
During the second quarter, expect to
spend approximately 30-40 hours overall (or 3 hours a week). There will be schedule monthly teleconferences. However, the
remainder of the time can be scheduled within your summer
activities. (I want to give you a break!) Gradually, we
move into less-structured time
and more individual accountability for keeping and sticking to your
own schedules. Time sheets are required, though, to document
your work.
In the third
quarter, you will spend 75 "paid" hours in your internship #1 plus
some additional hours in monthly teleconferences and special TeleSeminars
"with experts."
In quarter #4, plan to spend 150 hours in your internships #2 and
#3 plus additional teleconferences. You should plan on
spending approximately 10 hours of "paid work" into grant writing
and fundraising projects. What's nice is that you can put the
hours in "whenever your want," as long as you fulfill your
professional responsibilities. If you like, you can start
internship #2 sooner and lighten your load in quarter #4.
There is some flexibility in our schedule. I am willing to
work with you around special personal, family, work or other
situations. It is important to let me know these as soon as
possible, so I can support you in being successful in all your
endeavors.
Q. What are the FREE BONUSES? When do I receive
them?
A. Great question. The
FREE BONUSES are included to add value beyond the system itself.
Some of the bonuses include books and materials included in our
E-Courses. Some are unique but also related to this system.
Bonuses will be given to you at various times throughout the 12
months. I decided against giving everything to you up front,
which can be a bit overwhelming. Instead, I plan to spread
giving them them out over the 12 months. It's like getting
birthday gifts for 12 months!

How Much
Does My 12-Month Mentoring Program Cost?
Answer: not much compared
with life-long benefits of becoming a "WINNING Grant,
Scholarship and
Fundraising Entrepreneur."
If you're wondering,
"What's the price of your mentoring program?" I'm glad
you asked. That's one of the best parts of what we
offer.
Becoming a successful
grant writer and fundraiser might be well worth $100,000
... $500,000 ... even $1 million or more to you over
your lifetime.
In short, becoming a
successful grant writer and fundraiser can catapult your
career to a whole new level.
For that reason, I thought
seriously about charging at least $10,000 for our
program. In fact, last year I paid more than
$22,000/year in tuition and travel for an online career
system. The Mentoring Program is much more practical and
immediately relevant. $10,000 would be a fair price, but we don't
just want to work with rich people. Sure, I want
to make money, but I really want to help the average
person and nonprofit on a tight budget. I remember
what it was like when I wrote my first grant in 1988.
By teaching a lot of
information via TeleSeminars and electronically, I'm
able to maximize our productivity and bring the cost
down considerably.
